Blue owl

Hi guys,

I hope that anyone who may be reading this has been having a great start to their 2010! I am still trying to get past the fact that it’s 2010 (so futuristic-sounding!) and that we’re not in hover cars dodging hover skateboards like in Back to the Future II. Well, all disappointment to that effect aside…I wanted to post another project that I have made so that you guys can get to know me and my interests a little better.

Blue is my favorite color, and clearly I am obsessed with owls (please see the banner at the top of this blog for reference).I made this sewn blue owl ornament by making a few small modifications to the pattern found here on Craftzine’s blog. I used glass seed beads (for the eyes) and sequins instead of buttons. But really, he’s mostly just craft store felt (the kind you would get for kid’s craft projects) and some leftover thread we had lying around. I hope you like him. Please feel free to comment if you’re reading this…or if you know where I might have parked the DeLorean :-)

Thanks all!

First metalsmithed piece of jewelry

Hi everyone,

I know, I go four months without posting a single thing, then I do it twice in one day...Oh well, strike while the iron's hot (and while I'm on vacation) as they say...

This is the first metal-smithed piece of jewelry that I ever made. I took metalsmithing classes back in 2008, and this was my very first finished project. I haven't bought any equipment to do the smithing thing on my own, but I hope to one day. This fleur de lis pendant is made of antiqued brass and some recycled wood cut out of a dollar store item. The wood has been dyed with some coffee grounds and watercolors, and sealed with clear nail polish (also from the dollar store).

Anyway, hope you guys are all enjoying the last little bits of 2009. Happy New Year everyone!

Hi everyone,

Thanks to my really supportive boyfriend, I have regained the motivation to post on this blog again. It's only been four months...... :-P

Anyway, one of my really big craft interests is crocheting little creatures, like this amigurumi pirate guy from lionbrand.com. Hopefully I'll be able to post some patterns of my own design on this blog eventually. Anyway, hope you enjoy this one for now. Thanks for waiting guys! And please feel free to give me tips on the photography, I honestly don't know what I am doing with that....

My First Post!

Hey guys!

I decided I really wanted to make a blog, but I really don't know how to do anything fancy. I guess I'll learn as I go. At least it looks pretty so far. Yay birds! (Sorry, the "yay birds!" only referred to the original template I had, which I have changed several times since then...)
